Part-Time Job Opportunity:

Job Summary:

The Line Cook is responsible for the preparation of food in accordance with the established recipes. This is an at-will position.

Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age. High School degree preferred. Must have or be able to obtain within 30 days of employment – Illinois Safe Food Handler Certificate. Two to five years’ experience in a banquet, restaurant or catering facility. Must be dependable and able to follow direction. Ability to exercise good judgment.

Starting pay: $15.00/hour DOQ


Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Gain knowledge and understanding of Park District policies and procedures and see that they are adhered to at all times.

2. Attend district-wide part-time staff orientations, crisis trainings and office staff trainings as directed.

3. Comply with the District’s Dress Code by coming to work in clean, presentable clothing.

4. Prepares an extensive variety of cold and hot food items.

5. Ensure food’s quality and presentation to the highest standard compliant to the established recipes.

6. Work in areas as needed (i.e. salad prep, grill, line work, carving stations, setting up/breaking down buffet lines or where any food items are involved.

7. Appropriately portions and arranges food on serving dishes.

8. Assists with the set-up of kitchen before shift and tear down at the end of shift.

9. Washes and cleans all utensils, preparation equipment and counters required for production in the kitchen.

10. Be courteous and helpful at all times.

11. Observe and follow all Park District safety policies and regulations. The safety of staff and participants is a continuing responsibility of all employees.

12. The District encourages its employees to “take ownership” of the District. As such, it shall be the responsibility of all Park District employees to pick up litter throughout the buildings, grounds, and facilities of the District.

13. Perform other duties as assigned.
